Current Wi-Fi has not been designed to meet strict deadlines. However, industrial closed-loop control and safety protocols need reliable updates within milliseconds. As with all real-time applications, late packets equal lost packets. While IT is happy with 99% availability and doesn't mind occasional latency spikes, OT reliability starts at 99,99% and every missed late packet counts against that reliability.
This presentation looks into sources of latency in Wi-Fi, what we can do to avoid them, and how we built an industrial-grade deterministic wireless system based on commercial off-the-shelf Wi-Fi 6E chips.

OpenRoaming is a roaming federation service enabling an automatic and secure Wi-Fi experience globally. WBA OpenRoaming, creates an open connectivity framework for all organizations in the wireless ecosystem to power new opportunities in the 5G era. - This is the official marketing we all know, but what does it mean? Why should we all know about it? Do we really need it? Why will it be great for the users and how it is currently taking off in ASIA and Europe? - Answers will be given by examples and real world experiences.

Think you know what’s going on with your Wi-Fi? Think again. The 7SIGNAL agent is packed with powerful features that give you deep visibility into the client experience — from connection health to roaming behavior and everything in between. In this session, we’ll pop the hood and show off all the cool things the agent can do to help you troubleshoot faster, design smarter, and sleep better at night. Warning: after this talk, you may never look at Wi-Fi the same way again.
